Learning Companions – Cohort 2018-20

In 2018, the journey of Learning Companions began with Vishal, Meena, Nihal, Devyani, and Priyanka—our very first Founding Batch. At that time, nothing was clearly defined; everything was still “emerging.” Yet, in the midst of that uncertainty, the trust and consistency they demonstrated allowed new designs to take shape, meaningful sessions to be built, and fresh ideas and strategies to evolve.

We experienced this learning journey together—with them. We experimented, made mistakes, reflected, and kept learning. Gradually, those learnings shaped the next structure of Learning Companions. Their shared readiness to wholeheartedly accept whatever came their way and give their fullest effort laid the foundation of the program.

Vishal worked with sincerity and integrity—open to change and constantly learning. He carried everyone along, respected others’ perspectives, and nurtured a sense of belonging and responsibility within the team. His warm and trusting bond with children, along with his positive nature, created a safe and joyful classroom environment that gave the team stability and confidence.

Nihal participated in every process with humility and enthusiasm. Meena’s deep love for learning and her way of understanding and involving children made sessions more vibrant, participatory, and meaningful; her work made a “child-centered” approach a natural part of the team’s culture. Devyani’s professionalism and speed inspired others to work with greater efficiency and momentum. Priyanka’s careful classroom planning, daily post-class reflections, and meticulous documentation pushed the cohort toward stronger preparation and quality teaching.

With everyone’s complementary strengths—relationships, facilitation, and structure—the beginning of a new institution slowly transformed from just a “program” into a “culture.” It was this collective strength that gave us the deep confidence that this journey could continue—steadily, reflectively, and with growing strength.
